The Ferrari Testarossa was the car of choice of among the elite in the 80's. It was the perfect symbol of the excess of the decade. It was a great car whose design matched its speed and the fact that it was genuinely a good car.

In 1981, Ferrari started to develop the engine for the Testarossa (type F113A), which would become a 4942 cc flat-12 and with four valves per cylinder it produced 390 HP (Euro) or 380 HP (US). Before the real production started, they tested about 20 engines.

The Testarossa was first presented in September 1984, to a select group of Ferrari dealers and journalists. The official presentation was on October 2nd 1984 in the Lido Club in Paris and one day later it was shown on the Paris Show. The public was quite ‘shocked’ about its design, but just like other Ferraris one has to get used to it. The production of the Testarossa ended in late 1991, after 7177 units were made.
